Founder (1/2) of Houna: A global community initiative that uses art as a vessel for community education, wellbeing, and cultural reconnection, virtually and in person, through events and experiences that center the SWANA (Southwest-North African) community.

 

EVENTS

Fatin Hawarri and I organized a print fund featuring 17 SWANA artists, including myself, selling photography in efforts to raise funds to send to people in Gaza. The print fund took place from October 22 - November 10.

Reading Palestine is a reading circle showcasing Palestinian authors, moderated by Palestinian novelist and publisher Yara El-Ghadban. The event features a musical and spoken word performance as well as Palestine-themed photography by Saria Chatila.

In collaboration with My Friend Frankie (MFF), a creative network based in Montreal, Fatin Hawarri and I organized a market featuring SWANA artists selling their work to raise funds to send to the people in Palestine.

A print fund featuring my photography in efforts to raise funds to send to trusted NGOs in Lebanon following the explosion on August 4, 2020. The print fund took place for 1 month.

EVENTS ORGANIZED for vent over tea

Frames of Mind is an inclusive art exhibition speaking on the themes of mental health, identity, and community happening December 2-10, 2023. The exhibition highlights the talent of artists from all ages, experiences, and backgrounds. 

Start with yourself is the first event of a three-part series in partnership with BMHC MTL, Building Community: From Care to Action. This event is a mind and body experience starting with a body check-in and ending with a sound bath and meditation.

Self Care in Action is an inclusive event of thought and discussion, offering practical self care tools by a panel of experts and resources around Montreal. 

Weaving Webs of Connection is a workshop exploring community, how to connect with others, what it’s like to offer support, and what it’s like to ask for it.

Immersive Sound Bath & Yoga is a restorative experience with movement and sound, starting with a grounding sound meditation to set the tone for the practice, followed by an energizing flow heating up the body, and finishing off with Yin elements slowing down the breath, calming the mind and gently relaxing.
